Honeywell will provide its flexible navigation system, which enables the UAV to navigate autonomously in environments devoid of global navigation satellite systems (GNSS). The Resilient navigation system includes Honeywell’s Compact Inertial Navigation System (HCINS), a radar-based Velocity Adding System (HRVS) and Anti-Jamming System (GPSdome) – all working together to provide multiple layers of protection which allow commercial and military operators. GNSS to perform autonomous Beyond Visual Line of Sight (BVLOS) operations in challenging or denied environments.
The teams will also collaborate on engineering and testing of UAV navigation solutions in India. GNSS-based systems are a primary source of navigation for UAVs – a segment that is seeing a significant increase in interference, including jams and spoofing. Equipping UAVs with advanced technology to overcome these interferences and maintain access to critical navigation is one area the partnership will explore. Through features such as anti-jamming, inertial navigation and alternative navigation systems, Honeywell’s flexible navigation system can help cope with the many problems encountered in GNSS-deprived environments.
