BTS ARMYs are leaving Twitter for Tumblr.
It’s all because of Elon Musk, the American–South African–Canadian entrepreneur, investor, and business magnate.
Let that sink in …

Twitter is like open-sourcing the news
— Elon Musk (@elonmusk) November 17, 2022
Elon Musk is the founder, CEO, and Chief Engineer at SpaceX; early-stage investor, CEO, and Product Architect of Tesla, Inc.; founder of The Boring Company; and co-founder of Neuralink and OpenAI. So, he is known for being innovative but also problematic.

And ever since he bought Twitter, it’s been a sh*tshow.

Musk has not only fired many Twitter employees, but all office buildings have been closed.
We’re hearing this is because Elon Musk and his team are terrified employees are going to sabotage the company. Also, they’re still trying to figure out which Twitter workers they need to cut access for.
— Zoë Schiffer (@ZoeSchiffer) November 17, 2022
So far no Twitter employees have been deactivated — even those who’ve publicly resigned. Musk and his team only collected the list of “yes’s” — employees who said they want to be part of Twitter 2.0. They’re still trying to track who is out.

So, it was reported that Twitter could not only slow down but straight-up “break” as a result.
Twitter could break as soon as tonight.

Twitter users have panicked, afraid that the social media app will crush and never be restored. Many are looking for alternatives.
BREAKING: A Twitter employee announces that Twitter “has about a week left before it’s dead.” If you want a fast-growing, pro-democracy Twitter alternative that isn’t being driven into the ground by a narcissistic billionaire, join @TribelSocial! Plus, we have an edit button!💙

What’s the alternative to Twitter?

For K-Pop stans who have long called Twitter home, including BTS’s fandom ARMY, are looking to the American microblogging and social networking website Tumblr. It was founded by David Karp in 2007 and is currently owned by Automattic. Tumblr used to be especially popular among fandom communities about a decade ago. Now, it looks like it’s making a comeback.
ARMYs are some of the many people looking to Tumblr for hope in maintaining the community they had grown on Twitter.
As someone who used Tumblr and then moved to Twitter I can tell you that Tumblr is better to use for those who are used to Twitter. Better than Instagram. I’ll use both but this is what I think. If you’re new to Tumblr, watch some tutorials on YT #armytotumblr

#armytotumblr is now trending as ARMYs share their Tumblr URLs to reconnect with their Twitter moots on the different platform.
streets say that twitter may be breaking tonight or in the coming week 😭 drop your urls on #armytotumblr please let’s try to re-find our community
— r ⁷ (tumblr @ epipeny 🫡) (@epipeny) November 18, 2022
can we start a hashtag? post your tumblr urls here #armytotumblr, maybe?? so oomfs can see your tweets when they click the hashtag and find you quickly because it’s too hard to find everyone posting their socials everywhere separately 😭

it took me days to finally create an account on tumblr but there you go. If you’re expert in using this platform, can you help me? thank you! 😭💜

Shortly after Twitter users migrated to Tumblr, the site did go down, which is ironic since the whole reason for switching from one application to the next was out of concern for the bird app going down.
hold up like 12 new ppl joined.
we’re working on it. give it a sec 🙂 https://t.co/Upd5HEaIBq— tumblr dot com the website and app (@tumblr) November 18, 2022
That’s not the only concern about Tumblr. Some K-Pop fans who have been Tumblr users for a long time have expressed the desire to keep known Twitter activities such as voting and streaming off the site.
can tumblr ppl explain tule 7 to me? do tumblr armys not stream or vote or stuff???? pic.twitter.com/jy2fAijzyM

However, there are no official rules against such things on Tumblr. The site is all for enjoying one’s hobbies, fandom, interests, etc. Anyone can do what they want.
Yet, this isn’t the first time ARMYs talked about leaving Twitter. Previously, when it was first announced that Musk would acquire Twitter, the fandom had become more active on the HYBE platform Weverse.
